Production day 9/10

During production day 9, we discussed the editing process and I helped with the editing and making our 'trapped' footage look professional and realistic by watching the footage we already have whilst giving advice to the editor (Mel) for example, the scene when the victim is being attacked we decided to include a dark setting with a built up sound clip, which makes the viewers uprehensive as it seems like a mystery. Also setting up each clip in order whilst giving my advice and opinion on the title fonts and credits, therefore I helped choose the best font. As Josh made a good quality font for our 'trapped' title and credits which goes really well with our genre horror as josh designs a creepy face figure, which is the main featured character in our short film who attacks the victim, therefore the short film is very understandable as it gives a clue in whats going to happen and as a group we voted for which font to use.

Production day 8

This is when we start to edit and start putting together our 'Trapped' footage, this involved our group getting involved and as a director I had to organize, give advise an help make the footage flow and look effective also check if my group is doing the work correctly, I decided to experiment with garageband for our credits so i put together a soundtrack which could make our footage look effective, depends on which scene we're using. Therefore i tried to visualise the clip whilst putting together a soundtrack.

Production day 7

During Production day 7, we had to re-film a lot of shots therefore we had to be motivated and put effort towards getting the acting and filming perfectly right as time was short. Also I was back and ready for the filming and acting footage, so I was certain we will get this right if everyone works as a team. Once we had finished re-shooting our footage and got the shots accurate, we then needed to film the ending parts we hadn't done. This included the kidnapper following, attacking and dragging the victim into the bushes also the victim being trapped in a box in the middle of the forest then the next footage is Me, Hollie and josh (group of friends) notice the victim (Mel) taking a while looking for signal so the group panics and decides to look for him but not realizing he is trapped in a box, therefore this leaves a mystery. Once we had finished all of the footage we uploaded it to the computer ready for the next step which is editing.

Production day 6

I woke up and felt ill so i couldn't come in, but new it be fine as i would have to work extra hard Friday, as friday is our last filming day. So we would have to get it right friday and this means worthing as a team.

Production day 5

As a group, we went into more detail and uploaded most of our shots for our 'Trapped'  4 minute short film. Once we uploaded the shots and put the shots together so it flows, we showed Steve so he can give us advice on what to do next, but we wasn't happy with the shots therefore we decided to go out and re-shoot, so we can have a variety of professional and understandable footage we can use from. But it was a risk we had to take as we had a strike the next day therefore we was cut short of time, but we managed to shoot most of our film, as everyone was putting in more effort to get it right this time, so as a result we was happy with our footage so far.

Production day 4

During out fourth production day, we went into detail and done more shots for our scenes, this included the tent scene therefore we had to be careful about the location and weather. Also be careful so the shots actually look realistic, as the sunlight kept making the area look too bright and we wanted the area to look gloomy and dark. So it looks more interesting and gives out a mystery also sets the scene in a negative and backs up a point of view shot when something is watching them.

Production day 3

We stayed in the classroom during some of the media lesson, as we done our first shot footage, therefore we uploaded them and wanted to check if the footage look good and sounds fluent, but some of our shots didn't make sense as it was cut too shot, therefore it seemed jumpy so we decided to go back out and film the shot again but experiment with more different shots.  overall we got the shots accurately and was very pleased with the result of doing it again as we knew why it went wrong.

Production day 2

During our production day, we began organizing the location sheets, took photographs of the location, I began producing the script, planning each scenes by order, organized costume props and giving initial ideas which will make our 'trapped' clip look effective and realistic. During producing our shot list we used many different shots through out our story line. We learnt how to customize and learn different effects for each scene. We used many shot types which looks realistic e.g. a point of view shot towards the group of friends walking into the forest, this will create a tense moment as the audience will instantly know someone is watching them, therefore creates a mystery. The next shots we used was long shots, mid shots and close ups of their facial expression and these shots are used when the group of friends start their conversation when they're introduced on scene. I was one of the characters, therefore I had to sound convincing and also my expressions saying each line had to suite my character on script. I created the script we used, therefore i had to give many ideas in appearance on set (body language) and facial expressions.

Production Day 1- on set

During our first production day, we experimented with different shot types and props, and just getting the use out of  the tripod, camera stills an the filming camera. We mostly done long shots and tracking shots, this looked very   effective as it showed action and gave us many ideas for our 'trapped' sequeance.

Location sheet

during this session, the group made a location sheet which shows the areas we're going to film. We organized the locations for each section and made a poster. I thought of our character Mel should be trapped in a cage, therefore chose the right location for the trapped part at the end. I have been a creative thinker because i used the right genre for a horror scene, as we're using a forest to backup the camp scene. So we went around and carefully took pictures and picked the right locations.

Here is our chosen shot types and scene we're go to use in our sequeance. The story bored includes many scenes and use

Target audience

During this session, we made a target audience member board which includes all the brands and logos which people in general are into. for example soaps, drink brands, magazines, resturants and many more. My board is directly towards a mass audience mostly teenagers. Because some brands are new, trendy and popular. For example "facebook" this is a mass audience and very new in this generation. I enjoyed this session and researching brands which are ideal towards audiences as i had to look towards an audience perspective.

Find your Tribe

In this session we did a quiz based on your personality, the quiz will predict your tribe by asking you 20 questions and the questions your asked is e.g music, brands, magazines you like, programmes and many more. My tribe is a townie and a Clubber.. I am happy with the result as i enjoy music, partying and socializing.

"Trapped" Moodboard

Here I have created a moodboard which represents "Trapped". Also gives you hints on our ideas and whats going to happedn throughout the sequeance. I really enjoyed using photoshop and experimenting with pictures. Therefore creating an effective moodboard by using many tools for example.. highlights, overlays, blending tools, colour contrast and many more, which makes the moodboard look realistic.

Trapped initial planning

During this session we had to plan out our ideas and get into groups to discuss and develop our trapped sequence from start, middle till end. I included some good ideas on how we can set the scenes out and create a twist which looks effective also how it backs up the idea of trapped (title). Our idea is about a journey of a group of friends going camping in the woods, its starts off carm as the friends are having a laugh, joking and gossiping therefore the atmosphere seems like a party like. Then suddenly odd things start to happen which builds up tense moments e.g phones have no signal, torch runs out of battery and the group can hear odd noises in the background, so one of the guy takes it as a joke and decides to go out of the tent and look for phone signal. He disapears and the rest of the group become uneasy and worried. Then a shot of the guy who goes missing trapped.

Final Bomb product

L2 KAYLEE - THE BOMB! PRELIMINARY PRODUCTION FINAL VIDEO from Long Road Applied Media Diploma on Vimeo.

Here is my final product on the "bomb" sequence. During this session we had to put together each scenes and create a flowing and realistic sequence which makes sense towards viewers, therefore using the 180 degree rule and many camera shots made the clip look effective. I also decided to add many soundtracks by using garageband, i liked the soundtracks i made as it went really well with each scenes for example... using quick/sharp tunes which flows with the jumpcuts and action scenes. If i could do better i'd cut out some sections as some scenes look jumpy and too quick, this can cause confusion.

Phone call

Horror stills clip

In this session we had to create a horror sequence which involved group work. We used final cut to edit and create a horrifying sequence which involved our 10 chosen shot picture's for example long shot, close up shot, medium shot, hand held shot and many more. I also used photoshop to edit my 3 chosen images using contrasts and different colour tones which looks scary. For example blood print stains which creates violence and gore. Also used different sound tracks and combined scary sounds using garage band. the reason i done this is because i wanted to experiment with sounds and create my own soundtrack along my sequence. I enjoyed this session and enjoyed using garage band the most because i thought it went really well with my final cut sequence and i thought my clip is very effective.

Sunday, 2 October 2011

In this session we had to research different horror images and create a horror board by blending in the images. I enjoyed editing the images, finding images from different horror films and combinding then together.
I thought my horror board looked good and i likes the "Horror Conventions" style writing and how it stands out.

Rosie Ball Visit

Rosie ball, is a Arts graduate who explained her experiance doing a game competition. She desighns and does the presentations during the game compertion, she also explained it takes a lot of preparation and insight doing the course. Anyways her and the team came 3rd out of millions of people around the world. She was very pleased with the result and how the game turned out. The game looks itself a children's view, however its very hard and becomes competitive. I also had a experiance playing the game and it looked fun, comical and conventional. I liked the layout and how it's simple and easy to navigate.

New York garage band soundtrack.

Using garageband was a very exciting way of putting together a soundtrack for my NYclip. There was lots of soundstracks and different style beats I can choose from.  I enjoyed experimenting with different sounds and putting them together so it makes my NY clip catchy. I decided to choose an upbeat and funky sound as i was trying to make my NY clip an actual start of a movie. However I still need to upload my logo onto the NY clip aswell.. and this would make my clip even 10x better.

New yourk final cut editing session

In this session we went on final cut and did a New York sequence. There was lots of NY images to choose from and I found it hard to think quick and choose the right images which goes with each slide... I had a habit of using my time playing with effects, and this lost time which made me feel under pressure towards the end as i wanted to make my clip look good. I also learnt to SAVE my work once i've started as i lost my first NY clip, which was very annoying... but quickly made a new one and it was much better than the first. Apart from loosing my fisrt NY clip, I really enjoyed putting together and using lots of effects into my clip.

Garage band demo

In garage band we had to make a short song, using different pre-loaded sounds. I decided to use a mix up of different sounds, which includes a hiphop beat, rock electric guitar sound and another beat! I really felt the start blended really well untill the end.. felt it needed more adjustments.  Anyways everyone including I really enjoyed this session making decent soundtracks with interests.  we learnt many aspects like, fade in and out music and to place different beats and sounds under each other on the time line so they would play along side eachother and the right time.

Logo research session

For our third session, we had to research two logo's of our choice. e.g where the product originated from, the dates when the logo's was released, the logo's syles over the years and many more. I also  drew the two logo's so it looks identical and detailed.
For my fisrt logo I chose "Pepsi" because its a mass audience (popular globally) which means lots of information involved and the logo seems interesting as the colour/font standsout. Therefore i thought this logo would be a great idea.
Next I thought I do some research based on a logo style totally different to "pepsi" but has the same population/purpose. therefore I picked "hollister" which is a very populer clothing brand in this generation. The logo seems very fresh and has a hint of style. Therefore i was inspired to research more information as I liked the logo style..

Earth and Eye Exercise

This was our first lesson using photoshop.
we used two pictures e.g earth and eye to create this image.
we first opened up photoshop and opened up A5 sheet.
Next we went on Flickr found the earth and eye picture and target grab them by typing cmd-shift-4 and this will capture the images. Once I done this I can drag the picture from the desktop and layer them both.

We also had to use a tool which would crop/ delete the earth’s background, which would leave just the main detailed part of the picture we need for the "eye pupil". After we done this we used another tool which reduces or increases the size of the clicked image, therefore we followed the same size of the eye ball and reduced the size of the earth which made the image the same width and length. I also used a blending tool which made the earth blend in with the eye therefore becomes a very interesting eye ball. Our main idea was to make the iris effective and standout by editing the image. Therefore we used a tool on the left which changed the main iris a turquoise blue and using brightness/contrast made the image bright and eye catchy. Then using another tool changed JUST the background black/white, this made the turquoise blue STAND OUT.  The picture we created was very effective and we were very pleased with the result.

Club flyer Task

In creative Media we learnt how to design a Club Flyer using Photoshop. Photoshop involves a lot of practice and IT knowledge, as it seems very complicated at first but once you experience variety aspects like tools, useful colour arrangements, styles, layers and  many more, this will instantly become easier. However doing a Club Flyer is a brilliant and fun idea into the creative media world. First I had to plan out my idea by researching details like Name, date, location, ticket prices and type of music genre which will make my flyer interesting. Then you have to find two theme based images on Flickr, which will fit in your genre and will make your flyer eye catchy with the use of images and colour combination.

Anyways on Photoshop I opened up a new A5 sheet, then turning the A5 sheet to 90* cw, this will then turn landscape. After i done this I had to quickly go back to my two chosen  images and target grab them  both, by typing  c-Shift-4 and then drag to select the area I want, this will then capture my images. Once i done this i can then start creating my flyer by layering them, editing the images and using different fonts and colours for my details and title.
